People of Walmart

I really shouldn't make fun of Walmart since we are in the middle of Walmart country, but if you have never visited the People of Walmart site, you are missing out. This video has been everywhere, but I thought it was worth sharing. Yes, you really see these people walking around. Enjoy!

Easy Caramel Brownies

I am participating in Kelly's Korner Show us Your Life and it's dessert week! I love making desserts. They are fun and it's probably what I'm best at creating. This recipe is something I saw at a Pampered Chef party and decided to simplify it a little. Here's what you need:

1 box of brownie mix (I seriously use the cheap kind, I think it actually works better)
1 bag of Rolos candy

You will also need the oil/eggs/water to make the brownies. I whip up the brownies according to the directions on the box and chop up about 20 Rolos and add those to the batter. The key to this recipe is to not over bake your brownies. I usually set the time on 1-2 minutes shorter than the recommended baking time on the box. I take out the brownies and chop up another 10 Rolos and add those to the top of the brownies while they are hot. These are so yummy and gooey. They are my signature dessert at work and I might just have to make some this weekend :)

I have tried this recipe with Heath bar and I want to try Reese's cups next. You can really use any candy you love. This is one of those easy breezy recipes that tasted like you spent hours on it!

Chicken Pox?

Last night James went to bed with little bumps under his armpits. I wrote it off as a heat rash or an allergic reaction to his deodorant (yes, with baseball, deodorant is now a necessity!). This morning, the rash had spread down his arms, on his belly, and in his ear. It didn't look like any rash I had seen before, except Chicken Pox. It looked like little pimples all over. So we headed to the doctor.

The prognosis? Poison Ivy! Seriously?! So, after we spent 2 hours at the doctor and 1 shot later, we are outta there. And about the shot, James actually chose it over Prednisone pills. Mostly, because he doesn't know what Prednisone is and didn't 'hear' the doctor say pills. He took the shot in the hip like a champ though. That's our tough little guy!

Here's hoping it goes away soon!

Joplin Tornadoes and No Sleep

As I sit here on my couch at 12:01 am, feeling sorry for myself because I will be super tired tomorrow, I think about those who have no couch to sit on. They have no house to put a couch in, no pantry to take cover, no car to go to a shelter, no TV to listen for another storm coming. My prayers go out to everyone in the Joplin area. These storms are devastating and even though I complain about moving my child from his bed to our pantry for the second time tonight, I am truly thankful we have escaped the storms so far this evening and I pray for the safety of everyone in our area.

Lazy weekend with a few movies

We haven't done much this weekend and it was FANTASTIC!!!!

Friday night, James spent the night with a friend and I took the opportunity to relax at home alone. I don't get time to myself much these days, so I took it all in with a bottle of wine and a few movies. I rented Little Fockers, No Strings Attached, and Country Strong. I watched No Strings Attached on Friday. I wasn't impressed.

Saturday, I slept in and cleaned up a little around the house. I got my bedroom back in order from our trip last weekend. Then I settled down to watch Little Fockers. We had seen it in the theater, and I loved it. But, strangely enough, I wasn't as impressed the 2nd time around. It wasn't as funny as I had remembered, so I'm glad I didn't buy it. Saturday afternoon we had baseball practice where I picked up James and then we headed to my in-laws for dinner and a little play time with my nieces and nephews.

Today, James played outside and I watched Country Strong. My fave of the bunch. It was better than I had expected, although pretty sad at the end. I think Gwyneth did a good job with the singing and I could always watch Tim McGraw :)  I plan to end this weekend with doing as little as possible!

Play Ball!

We've had so much fun with baseball this year. I've forgotten how much life changes when baseball season comes around. We are all about practices and games and sleepovers on the weekends. I really love this time in James' life. He is so fun and I love that he has good friends. I love that I can let James go to his friend's house without worrying about him. The past few weeks have been the first time that he's stayed anywhere other than family. Here's a few pics from the season so far.

Here's to a great end to baseball season. Just another couple weeks and we'll be done until next year.

Weekend in Tulsa

This past weekend, Gene and I went to Tulsa! It was our first adult weekend in over a year. We had a blast. We met up with our friends Gail and Stanton and headed to the Hard Rock Casino. I will just tell you that I had so much fun! With a couple of drinks in hand, we proceeded to play to slot machines. Gene and I together won about $800. We won enough to pay for our entire weekend. It was so awesome! I'm glad we don't live closer to the casino because I could get used to that LOL.

After a little gambling, we went and ate at Toby Keith's I Love this Bar & Grill. I wasn't sure if the food would be good, but it was surprisingly tasty. We all enjoyed steak and all the fixin's. After we waddled out of the restaurant, we headed back to the slot machines. It was nice to just hang out with good friends and enjoy time alone with my husband. We didn't stay at the Hard Rock, but at the hotel across the street. Luckily, they had a free shuttle to take us back and forth. Sunday, we slept in and met up at Longhorn's for lunch. We wanted to eat at our favorite place, The Melting Pot, but it's only open for dinner. After lunch we headed back to the Hard Rock for one last round. We really should have just headed home :)

All in all, it was a great weekend. I know we can't win it 'big' every time, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn't manage to get any pictures except for this one. I can't wait to do it again sometime!

New Blog!

I have made a ton of changes recently. I first had privacy issues with my previous blog, so I closed it down to make some changes and protect ourselves a little better. I thought I had everything fixed to my liking, then Blogger freaked out and deleted my blog entirely. I was so frustrated! So, I have decided to just start a new blog and now I can make everything how I want it. I've learned a lot since my very first blog post in August of last year. So, I hope you enjoy. I hope my old followers somehow find me again!
